Weekly market news - 2010 - week 3
Keywords : Avocado / Fresh / France
Demand has continued to be slow and pressure has remained quite strong on the small size fruit market. Hass supply has continued to be significantly above the average (Israeli/Mexico volumes stable and moderate but arrivals still large) and sometimes of flexible quality for Mexico and Chile (some “black cold” problems reported. In this context, the January seasonal price increase has still not taken place. Green deliveries have been much lower, as Israeli arrivals have decreased significantly. The market has remained balanced for big fruits (grade 18 and bigger), but under heavy pressure for the small ones (especially Fuerte). Additional volumes from Peru have remained limited, especially in France. Prices have been a little firmer for big fruits but have continued to be very flexible for the small sizes.
