The orange market has been well balanced and tense. The Naveline/Navel season from Spain has started to decline, and fruits have sometimes shown an heterogeneous quality mainly on the already ripe Naveline (rainfalls at the production sites). A more important presence of other origins has been noticed on the market this week. In particular, fruits from Egypt have been very present in Northern Europe.
Sales of oranges have remained stable and regular. The Spanish Navelina season is ending but with rather heterogeneous quality. As for the Navel, it represents very low volumes and the season will be over very soon. Prices for good quality brands have slightly increased. Spanish Salustiana volumes have continued to develop and price levels have been above the Navel/Navelina ones. As for other origins, they have been more present on the market than in other years. In particular, in Northern Europe volumes of Navel from Morocco and Egypt have continued to develop. The Maltese from Tunisia entered the market this week.
The market has remained satisfactory even though it has been less active than last week. The Spanish supply has mainly relied on some moderate volumes of Naveline, Navel and Salustiana. The very first Navelate entered the market but with very little volumes. Demand has been slightly slower this week and competition from other origins has been more present, mainly in Northern Europe (Navel from Egypt and Morocco and Washington Sanguine also from Morocco). In this context, Spanish prices have decreased but the level has remained far above the average. The situation has been more difficult for the small sized Maltaise from Tunisia, that represent the main part of the offer
The decrease of demand has also affected the oranges market. Volumes from Spain have continued to decrease (ending Salustiana and Navel) and those from Navelate are slowly developing but still remain very moderate. Volumes of Navel from Morocco and Egypt have continued to be available. Prices for all varieties have continued to decrease but remained of a good level.
Demand has not been very active on the orange market. However, as for soft citruses, supply has remained limited: volumes of Navel from Spain have decreased further and those of Navelate have continued to develop but have still kept a low level. Deliveries of Washington Sanguine from Morocco have started to develop but volumes have also remained limited. Some volumes of Navel from Egypt and of Maltese from Tunisia have continued to complete this week's supply. Hence, the market has remained in balance and prices have remained decreased and Maltese for which the price decrease has continued.
The market balance has weakened this week. Demand has slowed down further due to school holidays. At the same time, quality for some Navelate brands has been more flexible. Hence, despite lower deliveries due to rainfalls, the price bracket has widened. Some Washington Sanguine from Morocco have completed the offer. Contingency measures established by Tunisian exporters allowed, at the beginning of the week, an increase in Maltese prices. However, due to the low level of demand, prices have, yet again, decreased at the end of the week.
The orange market has remained stable. Demand has continued to be quite slow due to the school holidays. Deliveries of Navelate have developed slightly further but have kept a low level. The rainfalls that took place last week in Spain having affected the quality of some brands. Hence, in order to accelerate the sales level of fruits needing to be sold rather quickly, some promotional operations have taken place for the Navelate. In this context, prices have remained stable and close to the average for the standard brands and have become slightly firmer for the best brands. Some Washington Sanguine from Morocco have completed the offer, but volumes continued to be very low due to rainfalls affecting this country as well. Maltese volumes have remained stable and prices have decreased.
Orange sales have been quite slow this week. School holidays and the flexible quality of some brands have continued to weigh on demand for Spanish Navelate. However prices have remained stable since production remains below the average. Salustiana season is getting closer to its end. Supply of Washington Sanguine from Morocco has remained limited and prices have kept a low level since quality has also been affected by rainfalls. The Maltese market has continued to be difficult and prices have gone further down.
